CRBS Cabinet Minutes 11/13/24

Present – Mark, Haley, Logan, Derek, Pat, Matt

We have received the check from Benz Beverage for our portion of the profits from the Drink Local Festival – $2748.44

November meeting will be held at Need Pizza. 11/21/24 Social Hour 7:00, Meeting 8:00

We will be holding our yearly elections. Current cabinet members are all running unopposed, with a few wrinkles.
President – Matt Franklin – Unopposed
Vice President and ½ of Festival Coordinator- Haley Rosendahl – Unopposed
Treasurer – Derek Doan is stepping down. Mark Jensen is running unopposed
Secretary – Mark Jensen is stepping down to run for the Treasurer position. THE POSITION OF SECRETARY IS OPEN FOR NOMINATIONS.
Events Coordinator and ½ of Festival Coordinator – Logan Loeb – Unopposed
Competition Coordinator – Pat McCullough – Unopposed

Discussion was held about amending the Bylaws to include people who enjoy craft beer, but do not brew. Officially the name of our organization will not change, but we would like to change it to “Cedar Rapids Brewing and …………………… Society”. Tasting Society? Beer Enthusiasts? Tasters Guild? We couldn’t decide because we are not here to offend.

We will also have to change items in the Bylaws about brewer status to include non brewers.

Position of Social Media Coordinator was discussed. Haley volunteered, in spite of not accepting my Threads follow request for going on two weeks. Whatever.

Next Happy Hour is November 24th at Lion Bridge. Rumor has it a group of 30 members of the Madison Brewers and Tasters Guild will be in attendance. These are the people who run the Great Taste of the Midwest. The Great Taste of the Midwest is the largest one day beer festival in the nation. Wear something nice. Bring your best stuff. Don’t be creepy. Bring a pen and your autograph book.

Saturday November 23rd Matt is going to brew a Saison at his house and has invited club members. He should put “Saison Master Derek Doan” in charge. This will also be the only event where we don’t miss Divesh. It will be weird.

Holiday Party. December 14th, 7:00 (Seven) (VII) PM. The Jensens’ 6103 Rapids Ridge Rd NE. Bring a appetizer to share, bring beers to share. Wear something nice. Don’t get puking drunk. Figure out transportation to get home safely. Don’t be creepy.

Logan is purchasing gift cards for the Happy Hour attendance drawing. I think we decided on $30 cards.

Is there interest in organizing a BJCP Study group? Phase one would be to improve knowledge to pass the online test. It consists of 180 questions to be answered in 60 minutes. Phase two would be accumulating judging points while studying for the written and tasting tests.
